Do you know these three men? Have you had a word with them yet?

No don't know these ones - I think they are all from germany... a friend there sent them to me. If I did know them and I saw them trying to get away with that behaviour you can be pretty sure I would remind them to be gentlemen :D

haha - yea they for sure must be from Europe. I remember being on staff at Cape and having to haul some heavy stuff around - the European staff guys would never help, and then the N. American student giys would always want to help. ahaha

I don't know - most of the north american guys I know tend to need little reminders. Dutch guys though - all the dutch guys I've kept company with have been perfect gentlemen.
Always carrying things, paying for you meal or coffee or whatever with no expectations - yep, dutch guys - who'd a thunk it.

Gentlemen are a fine art that our society needs more of. It's nice to know that we can work together ;)

I had to laugh at the pic of the guy sleeping with his bike--you know there is a story there.

I thought gentlemen are a dieing breed. After all, most 'gentlemenly' things to do would today be considered dangerously NON woman's lib.

Imagine this scene...man holds door open for woman in friendly gesture. Woman slams door in mans face, then opens it herself saying "I am NOT too weak and fragile that I need a MAN to open my door for me, thank you very much!" How does the 'gentleman' survive with woman like that out there? How do men figure out what and when a woman sees a gentlemanly act as kindness or overbearing?

Most gentlemen types would be stunned into a stuper if that happened to them. After all, a true gentleman is a man who usually has pure intentions towards all women. He is trying to be polite and consider a woman's desires...so how about some input for the women readers of Grace's Blog?

Dear last gentleman, I was going to comment on somewhat the same lines. The reason that men need those reminders is because of the women who told them that being a gentleman was wrong in the first place. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the fact that I can get paid at the same rate as a male, and so on and so forth, but there are many women out there who have the beaten the gentleman down so that he does not know how to act, and then we are upset because of it.

Nikki, I think you got it spot on.

So you are saying that a gentleman should continue to treat every woman as a lady until the woman acts un-lady-like, in which case we just stop treating that woman as a lady and let strangers condemn us for the way we are percieved as treating them?

If so, could it be that the women in these photos demanded to NOT be treated differently and actually chose to be in the situation they are in?

I'm confused...like most men are.

I guess it could best be described in this situation...carry over from the last one.

I hold the door for a woman, not realizing that she doesn't want to be treated as a lady. She slams the door in my face, then opens it herself. Another woman sees only the last part of this scenario, and (according to shinbone)desides to walk up to me and remind me of how rude and ungentlemanly it was to NOT hold the door open for the woman who recently slammed the door in my face. Now I have two women mad at me just because I'm trying to respect women.

How do I win?????

I think all women are the B word.. that is to say Beautiful! HAHAHA!

Humor is the sword of a true gentleman, a sword which was named of old "WIT" and glows when women are near(not unlike sting for lotr)

I thought wit was a drink best served dry and with a hint of indigestion. The kind you find at yuppie parties and in news rooms.
But now that you mention that, it would explain the glow that occurs "down there" when women are about!

Everyone please!!!! This is getting out of hand. I shall now explain to the world the truth of the matter!
There is and have never been gentlemen. It was a desire of mine for many years yet has never and can never come to fruition. You see the male mind is inherently flawed. Here are some of the results that my research and delving into the mind of a perverted male chauvinist pig (gentleman) has bequeathed.
1. The man opens car door.
Possible reasons: A) to be nice B) to look down your shirt. Winner B
2. The man opens a door for you and lets you go first.
Possible reasons: C) to be polite D) to check out your butt on the way in. Winner D
3. The man shares his “glowing wit” with you.
Possible reason: E) to be charming F) to feed his ego with your giggles and show off to other men. Winner F
4. The man stands until the lady is seated.
Possible reasons: G)to show respect H) same as reason B. Winner H
This could go on and on but I think I’ve made my point! I leave the rest up to you ladies!

News Flash!! Those are all dudes in the pictures. Not a lady among them. You may have thought some of the guys are a little on the feminine side, but it's just that they're european!

You're right! There are no distinguishing characteristics proving un-gentlemenly conduct. This blog is a farse!!
